RV Life – The Final Countdown

This is it! Everything we have planned for over the last few years is now, finally, coming to fruition. The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind and we expect that will continue for at least another month now that our house is sold.

Once we settled on the decision to go with a real estate agent everything seemed to move at a breakneck pace. Using a traditional agent was a tough pill to swallow at first but when he got started we quickly realized it was the right decision, albeit an expensive one. Every agent has the standard responsibility of listing and showing the property. But generating interest and creating a competitive market to gain the best price definitely takes skill. It was fun to watch the process play out and it also paid off with our property selling for a record price for our neighborhood.

Now that the clock has started we have a lot to do. We need to empty our house and sell the rest of our furniture and also another car. We will need to book a spot at a campground so we have somewhere to go once everything is completed. And finally we will need to wind down our business since it is California specific and can’t travel.

With all of this change we expect the next couple of months will probably be rough financially. We will need to prepay for our campsites once we settle on where we want to go. Also, in preparation or hitting the road we had the annual maintenance performed on our RV which isn’t cheap. We also had a nice set of theater seats installed to replace the sofa sleeper which was no longer needed and not comfortable enough for full time living. The good news is I was able to sell the sofa and offset some of the installation costs of the new seats.

We knew the cash outlay would be a little rough but it is something we planned for. Once we are settled our expenses will drop drastically and with Mrs. RVF still working for a few more months we should be able to build up a nice chuck of cash.

With just over 4 weeks to get everything cleared out it is sure to be a little bit stressful but we are so excited to move into the next stage of our lives.

Stay tuned……………….

Joe
