Another month in the books which means it’s time for our August 2024 dividend portfolio update!

Much like July, the month of August was pretty crazy. Once again most of our time was spent dealing our home build. And eventually we made the long drive back to Texas to stay for good. Once we finally got settled in at our hotel and took care of a few things we were finally able to catch up on other things, like our investments.

While we didn’t have a lot of time to focus on investing we were at least able to make some moves. As usual investable funds were scarce because we have no time to focus on generating income. So we did the best with what we had which was still tough with the markets flying.

In the month of August we received dividend payments from ABBV, ABR, EPD, GIS, JEPI, MAIN, O, QYLD, T & VZ. Our dividends totaled $69.74 and all receipts were reinvested back into the underlying positions. For ABR we are now gaining more than a share per quarter in dividends.

In the month of August we added shares to our positions in BKH(1), EPD(2) and O(1). It’s not a lot but we like energy and REITS so that where we made our additions.

Year over year for the month of August our dividend increased just 6.28%. Some of this is due to the fact that QYLD paid two dividends in August 2023. This explains why our chart shows a 42% decrease for that position year over year. The rest of our positions were pretty solid. Growth is growth and we will take it!

At the end of August 2024 our dividend portfolio was valued at $19,902. This was another great month and a 5.48% increase from month ending July 2024. It’s crazy to think we are ended the month just $100 away from having a $20k dividend portfolio!

On a year over year basis our dividend portfolio value has increased by 43.41%. We don’t know how long this run is going to last but we are sure enjoying it while we can! It would be awesome to see $20k at the end of September!

With the additional shares added and the reinvestment of all dividends received our portfolio will now provide projected annual dividend income (PADI) of just under $899. This is almost $75 per month on average and a $20 per year increase from our July update. For the month of August our yield on cost (YOC) inched up to 5.46%.

After not doing much of anything for a couple of months we are on the cusp of hitting $900 in PADI! Our goal was to hit $1,000 in PADI this year which looks to be pretty far out of reach. So we will be happy and enjoy this small milestone. It will be interesting to see how close we can get to $1k by year end.
