May 2024 Financial Update

Welcome to our very belated May 2024 financial update. It seems that all of the cross country travel and probably some stress finally took its toll. Traveling was nice when we were doing it in a big luxury RV. We always had food and snacks in the refrigerator readily available. And when we were tired we would just hit up a rest area and sleep in our own bed. Traveling in a car with three people that is packed full with stuff is a completely different story however.

With our son completing college and getting ready to start his new career we had to empty his college apartment. For a minimalist person he had a lot of stuff! The car was completely packed and every nook and cranny was filled. And with his entire life in the car we didn’t want to leave the vehicle unattended. So with the exception of our three day stay in Texas to check on the our home build we ended up sleeping in the car, sitting upright when we stopped for the night. Not very much fun at all!

May 2024 Dividend Portfolio Update

After a wild month it’s time for our May 2024 dividend portfolio update!

May is always kind of a wild card month and it’s not unusual to get the type of swings we had. Sell in May and go away? Meh! Our dividend portfolio reached another all time high once again. Then it came crashing down shortly after and we thought that was that. Of course we were wrong because it stabilized, rebounded and bam! Another all time high at the close of the month! It was quite the roller coaster!

While it was a fun ride we took a pretty significant hit to our PADI as you will see. The expected MMM dividend cut finally happened which is a setback. It pretty much wiped out half of the progress we made this year trying to reach our $1K PADI goal. It’s a little bit of a bummer when we can only take baby steps to begin with. So while the month was positive it wasn’t great because of this set back.

April 2024 Financial Update

Hello again! We are pretty late publishing our April 2024 financial update blog, but for good reason. We made the cross country trip from Utah to Pennsylvania so that we could attend our son’s college graduation! It’s crazy how quickly four years flew by and we are so proud of him! He the first person to graduate college from my side of the family and he did it with honors to boot. Obviously he gets his smarts from Mrs. RVF’s side of the family.

Thankfully, he already has an amazing job opportunity lined up starting in the fall. There’s also a good possibility that he will not be too far from our new house during a good portion of his onboarding time. So that might be a very nice bonus! In the meantime he will be taking a well deserved trip across Europe, which we are very jealous about. As for us, we will be mooch docking in his apartment until he gets back home. Then we will make the journey back across the country to Utah.

April 2024 Dividend Portfolio Update

Another month is in the books and it’s time for our April 2023 dividend portfolio update!

We will try and keep this update relatively short and to the point. After driving 1,400 miles in about a day and a half, and then attending a ton of different graduation festivities for our son, we are pretty wiped out. Finding any time in our schedule to write blogs is a challenge so we will get to them when we can.

In April we made a few moves and adjustments to our portfolio. Frankly, I became annoyed with looking at turds like MPW and WBD floating in our portfolio. So I decided to flush them down the toilet and move on.

It was a long time coming for WBD as it was a spin off we inherited from AT&T. We had hoped WBD would become a content juggernaut and growth story. Instead we got a POS that never did anything but suck.

As for MPW, they might eventually turn it around, but the position was very small and turned speculative. After keeping a close eye on it for awhile I just decided I no longer wanted to play that game.

March 2024 Financial Update

After a long week we have finally settled down enough to put together our March 2024 financial update blog. But, as you will see this is only a temporary pause. The craziness that is our lives at the moment is just starting. Buckle up, this is going to be a long one!

The last couple of weeks we have been a whirlwind! We probably made it worse than it needed to be, but we are glad to be settled for the moment. Over the last month or so we emptied out our RV and made several trips to our property to move stuff into storage. We are so happy finally be out of San Antonio, but the fun is just beginning!

March 2024 Dividend Portfolio Update

The first quarter of the year is in the books and that means it’s time for our March 2024 dividend portfolio update!

March is a big month for dividends as ya’ll know. We were hoping to check off a small milestone for our little dividend portfolio this month. Looking at our projected dividends at the start of March we were in line to have our very first one hundred dollar dividend month. However, the markets were closed on Good Friday which happens to be a day when some of our dividends were due to hit. Because of this we were either going to hit the goal or miss it by a few dollars depending on when the payments hit our account. So did we hit our milestone or did timing issues cause delayed gratification? We will get to the numbers in a moment and find out.

February 2024 Financial Update

Oh, where to begin! Another month in the books and it’s time for our February 2024 financial update.

However, before we get to the numbers let us bring you up to speed on the adventure that is our life. We knew that building a custom home would be a new challenge that would take a lot of patience. In our update last month we were in the process of trying to get permits and approvals for our plans. The good news is that we have cleared all of those hurdles. The not so good news is that there are a whole new set of hurdles to jump over.

It’s not a real big deal and we are making progress, but our timeline keeps getting pushed back. It would have been helpful to know about these things months ago as we could have probably taken care of them. The problem we have is that this is all new to us. We don’t know what we don’t know. Then something comes up in conversation and we have to figure it out. It’s all part of the experience I guess!
