August 2022 Financial Update

That didn’t last long!

In our last update we said it was nice to see a positive month. But we also cautioned that we should not get ahead of ourselves and expect it to continue. This turned out to be a good call as one can never underestimate the power of incompetent government lifers to further screw things up and cause more turmoil.

Additionally, in our last update we questioned Mr. Fed Chairman’s rational for saying that he believes interest rates, currently at 2.5%, are now at neutral and neither helping or hurting the economy when their own preferred inflation gauge clocked in at 4.8%. And that’s after stripping out food and energy which puts inflation at a disturbing 6.8%. As has become customary with our esteemed and incompetent fed chairman he and his cronies had to spend a lot of time walking back that idiotic comment over the last month. Much like they had to do with the transitory inflation hoax they perpetuated for over a year to justify not doing their job.

One Year On The Road

Towards the end of February we passed the anniversary date marking one year full-time on the road. We didn’t get a chance to celebrate this milestone. As a matter of fact, we didn’t even know it happened. The date came and went as we were busy preparing to hit the road once again and failed to recognize our accomplishment.

Reflecting on the last year we have come a long way and yet it seems as though we are just getting started. Perhaps this is because we began our adventures in February, but it took another seven months before we actually started living life on our own terms.

2021 Year In Review

What a difference a year makes! As a matter of fact, we never published our 2020 year in review for a few reasons. Mostly because 2020 just plain sucked! The pandemic ruined everything from our son’s senior year of high school, large parts of our college road trip, his freshman year in college and our plans to start our full-time RV life. And who can forget the financial rollercoaster from the top of the world down to the pit of despair and back again? Publishing a blog post and reliving it all over again was the last thing on our minds.

Here we are at the end of another year and still dealing with the continued fallout from the pandemic. Some things have remained the same. Everything else in our lives has changed for the better.

Campground Review – Distant Drums RV Resort

In this edition of our campground review series we will be reviewing Distant Drums RV Resort in Camp Verde, Arizona.

This was our first ever visit to Distant Drums RV Resort and we stayed for 3 months after leaving Utah. The resort came highly recommended in several of the RV groups and it didn’t disappoint.

Distant Drums RV Resort is located on the North side of Camp Verde right off of Interstate 17. The location is great because you are centrally located between Sedona and Cottonwood/Jerome and you can enjoy the entire area without living in the traffic that comes with these great places.

November 2021 Financial Update

It’s hard to believe the time for another monthly update is already here. November seemed to fly by and with the end of the month came the end of our time in the Sedona, AZ area. We absolutely loved every minute of our time there and we look forward to returning next year. In fact we already made reservations for the entire Winter next year and have the option to work camp and stay for free!

We hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday and was able to spend time with friends and family. Thanksgiving this year was very different for us as it was our first as full-time RVers and also the first time we didn’t have any family around. But that didn’t stop us from having a good time as we had a wonderful dinner and lots of laughs with our new friends at the campground. One of the great things about this lifestyle is that you are always meeting new people and making new friends. We even learned that it’s a thing to have full-time RVer business cards to hand out to people you meet so everyone can stay in touch and meet up in other locations when paths cross.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!

This has been an amazing year and we truly appreciate all of our readers and the time you take to read our posts and support our little blog.

This year we made significant progress to reach our F.I.R.E goals and transitioned into living our full-time RV dream. And we finally retired!

Since the beginning of the year the number of people following our blog has more than doubled and we are on track to more than quadruple the number of page views compared to last year. Even more amazing is that we have had visitors from 74 different countries this year!

We are very humbled by the level of support we have received and are excited to keep sharing our adventures with you as we travel across the Country.

Thank you!

Joe & Mrs. RVF

October 2021 Financial Update

October was a very enjoyable month as we did quite a bit of hiking, exploring and met up with some friends that we had worked with at our previous stop in Utah. When we decided to full-time in our RV this was the type of month we envisioned having more often than not as it was fun and productive both personally and financially.

We started the month by visiting local breweries and sampling some great tasting beer. I’m usually a creature of habit but when you go to these places it’s good to get out of your comfort zone and try new things. I did that by trying a blueberry wheat ale and was surprised at how good it was. Definitely something I would have again!
