Campground Review – Juniper Campground

In this edition of our campground review series we will be reviewing Juniper Campground located in Ririe, ID.

This was our first stay at Juniper Campground and we booked one full week in May 2023. This stop on our journey was just supposed to be a short layover on our way to bigger things. As it turns out, we might have discovered a hidden gem that we would like to return to some day.

Juniper Campground is located off Idaho state highway 26 which you can catch out of Idaho Falls. Finding the resort isn’t too difficult, but it is a pretty good distance from the time you get off Interstate 15 until you arrive at the campground. Just a heads up, you will also take a country road through farmland down to the campground. It’s paved, but it’s remote. When you are 40 ft long and towing a vehicle getting on the back roads can be a little sketchy. It’s a lot of trust to put into a GPS system that has failed us before. Needless to say, we were extremely happy when we cam around the bend and saw the reservoir and the campground ahead of us.

Campground Review – Southern Utah RV Resort

In this edition we will be reviewing Southern Utah RV Resort located in Washington, UT.

This was our first time visiting Southern Utah RV Resort. We stayed at the location for the months of April and May 2023. The resort is located just off interstate 15 at the exit for Washington Parkway. Finding the resort is not too difficult as you can see it from the interstate. However, there is a lot of construction in the surrounding area. This causes some confusion as your GPS might not be correct until all of the construction is completed.

When we arrived in the area our GPS was thrown off because the main road to the resort is still under construction. As a result we needed to go around the development and pick up the road up on the other side of the resort. This is currently the only way to enter the resort until the road is completed.

There is also another resort close by and many people confuse the two locations. The location is great for travelers and people passing through. But until the construction in the area is completed this is something people will have to deal with.

Campground Review – Jetstream RV Resort

In this edition we will be reviewing Jetstream RV Resort at NASA located in Webster, Texas.

This was our second visit to Jetstream RV Resort and we stayed at the resort for 2 months after leaving our lovely spot in Sedona, AZ. Since our last visit here almost 2 years ago, and after we made our new reservation, the resort went through a management change when it was acquired by Sun Outdoors. We were a little concerned that it wouldn’t be the same. From what we saw, most of the changes being made were for the good.

Campground Review – Distant Drums RV Resort

In this edition of our campground review series we will be reviewing Distant Drums RV Resort in Camp Verde, Arizona.

This was our first ever visit to Distant Drums RV Resort and we stayed for 3 months after leaving Utah. The resort came highly recommended in several of the RV groups and it didn’t disappoint.

Distant Drums RV Resort is located on the North side of Camp Verde right off of Interstate 17. The location is great because you are centrally located between Sedona and Cottonwood/Jerome and you can enjoy the entire area without living in the traffic that comes with these great places.

September 2021 Financial Update

Well it finally happened, we had a negative return month. This is our first month in the red since January, which is pretty remarkable, and even in January we were barely negative. In fact we would have to look back to October 2020 for the last significant negative month which shows that a correction was probably long over due. Of course everyone, including us, loves to see their portfolio go up month after month but in reality that is not healthy or sustainable. While it’s never fun to see your portfolio decrease, sometimes dramatically, these pullbacks create the opportunity to take up new positions, add to existing positions or to dollar cost average. Plus they are a healthy aspect of a long term investment strategy.

The Rise Of The Entitled Camper

In the last few years camping and RVing has surged in popularity as people have grown tired of being trapped in their homes during the great lockdown of the Covid era. RV sales have hit record numbers and some manufacturers are reporting backlogs of over a year for people waiting for their new RV to be built. This is all great news for the industry and particularly for campground owners as there is no shortage of customers waiting to fill open spaces. However, this surge in customers and first time RV owners has given rise to a new phenomenon and one that is not good, the entitled camper.
