Campground Review – Cummins Ferry RV Resort

In this edition of our campground review series we will be reviewing Cummins Ferry RV Resort located in Salvisa, Kentucky.

This was our first visit to Cummins Ferry RV Resort and it was one of those places that we hoped would live up to what we saw in the photos while we were researching places to visit.

Unfortunately, it is all too common for amazing photos to be posted online that are not always representative of the reality on the ground when you arrive for your stay. And when you are booking for an entire month arriving at some RV resorts and campgrounds can be very stressful because you are not always sure of what you are getting into until you get there and get settled.

To say we were relieved when we came around the bend and saw the resort for the first time, after driving down a long and narrow road towards an uncertain destination, would be an understatement.

Campground Review – Wrights Orchard Station

In this edition we will be reviewing Wrights Orchard Station Campground located in Duncansville, Pennsylvania.

This was our second visit to Wrights Orchard Station Campground as we stayed there a little over two years ago when we took our son to school for his freshman year. Since that visit not much has changed and as far as we are concerned that is a good thing.

Wrights Orchard Station Campground is a small no frills family owned campground located just off interstate 99 and borders the town of Altoona, PA. It is open seasonally from May until the end of October and is in a great location as you can easily drive into town or get on the interstate and go in any direction for hiking, fishing, historical sites or just for some outdoor fun. Just plan on using your vehicle, uber or public transportation as this is an older town and there are zero sidewalks along the streets for walking and traffic moves fast.

Leaving Pennsylvania

Sadly our time in Pennsylvania will soon be coming to an end. It’s hard to believe that we have already been here for two months! While we are always excited to move on to another adventure this is going to be a more difficult transition than usual as we leave here not knowing how much time will pass before we see our son again. It’s feels like a repeat of 2020 when we dropped him off at his dorm for the first time and headed home to an empty house.

Campground Review – Sun Outdoors Orange Beach

In this edition we will be reviewing Sun Outdoors Orange Beach located in Orange Beach, Alabama.

Sun Outdoors Orange Beach is located southeast of Mobile, AL along the gulf coast. We opted to take interstate 10 to state route 59 through Foley, AL instead of paying to go over the toll bridge. The bridge isn’t expensive to take and will save you about 15 minutes. We are in no hurry these days and we are always looking to save a couple of bucks where we can, so the longer route was fine with us.

Campground Review – Jetstream RV Resort

In this edition we will be reviewing Jetstream RV Resort at NASA located in Webster, Texas.

This was our second visit to Jetstream RV Resort and we stayed at the resort for 2 months after leaving our lovely spot in Sedona, AZ. Since our last visit here almost 2 years ago, and after we made our new reservation, the resort went through a management change when it was acquired by Sun Outdoors. We were a little concerned that it wouldn’t be the same. From what we saw, most of the changes being made were for the good.

April 2022 Financial Update

Well what else can be said about the month of April other than YIKES!

As April came to a close so did our time in Texas. We had such a great time during our 2 month stay in South Texas and it was actually hard to leave our spot. We had the same amazing neighbors throughout our entire stay, which is a bit unusual. We enjoyed everything about the area as there was a wide variety of things to do and places to see. If you are driving through or visiting Texas, and you like going to stores, be sure to put H.E.B. and Buc-ee’s on the top of your to-do list. You will not be disappointed! Most of all, we enjoyed the people of Texas. They are some of the most genuine and sincere people we have ever talked to and always offered great advice or recommendations to make our stay more enjoyable. We will miss being there, but we will be back.
