Welcome to our 2025 financial wrap up blog. What a year!

2025 was a year of adjustments, challenges and getting acquainted with our new normal. It hasn’t been all roses, but we are very happy. Scratch that. We are happy and we working on some things that will make us more happy.

The transition from living in an RV to moving back into a house has been a bumpy ride. From a financial standpoint it has been very expensive. Trying to furnish an entire home is not cheap. It’s also not as fun as it used to be when we were younger. Getting reacquainted with the number of bills that come with home ownership is even less enjoyable. Water, trash, electric, tv, internet, POA, insurance and worst of all property taxes. BLAH!!

Sorting It Out

Howdy y’all!! It’s a new year and things are getting back to normal. It’s a new normal and a new routine, but we sure are loving every minute.

It’s getting downright cold here in north central Texas! It’s moments like this where we do not miss living in our RV. Plywood and fiberglass was never conducive to a warm environment in freezing temperatures. The only thing worse than a full shitter would have been a frozen shitter. Yuck!! Thank god that never happened to us!

When we published our last blog our financial situation was clear as mud. We didn’t know how much we were paying for the house we built and already living in! We knew the cost of the construction, but that was only the starting point. None of the details had been finalized and they kept changing which made a frustrating situation even worse.

June 2024 Financial Update

Welcome to our very late, and probably brief, June 2024 Financial Update. Better late than never I guess!

We were hesitant to even write this blog given how close we are to another month end. However, with everything we have going on there is no telling when we will be able to get to that month end blog either. So we are using this brief window of free time to give our update.

Since our last update we have traveled back and forth between Utah and Texas twice. Both trips required a lot of our attention as our home build is really getting down to the details. This stage is both exciting and a little scary. Our design choices starting to get implemented into the house so hopefully everything comes together as planned. The problem is that we are now 1,200 miles away and can’t be there to make changes on the fly if something doesn’t pan out. Hopefully when we get back there we don’t have an “oh shit” moment.

March 2024 Financial Update

After a long week we have finally settled down enough to put together our March 2024 financial update blog. But, as you will see this is only a temporary pause. The craziness that is our lives at the moment is just starting. Buckle up, this is going to be a long one!

The last couple of weeks we have been a whirlwind! We probably made it worse than it needed to be, but we are glad to be settled for the moment. Over the last month or so we emptied out our RV and made several trips to our property to move stuff into storage. We are so happy finally be out of San Antonio, but the fun is just beginning!

Forever Home Found……..and Lost

As ours reader are probably aware of by now, we have been looking a location to find or build our forever home. Over the last few months our search has taken us from Montana down to Texas and everything in between. While our forever home search started out very wide, and across several states, it has since narrowed. As much as we love Montana and our temporary home state of South Dakota the winters are too large of a negative to overcome. After considering states like Utah and Nevada we have narrowed our search to parts of Texas. This however still feels like half the country anyway.

Over the last few weeks a lot has transpired and eventually reached a crescendo late last week. Honestly we were hoping this would be the blog where we expressed our excitement about entering a new phase of our lives. But despite giving it our best effort and even going out on a limb financially it wasn’t meant to be.

Campground Review – Southern Utah RV Resort

In this edition we will be reviewing Southern Utah RV Resort located in Washington, UT.

This was our first time visiting Southern Utah RV Resort. We stayed at the location for the months of April and May 2023. The resort is located just off interstate 15 at the exit for Washington Parkway. Finding the resort is not too difficult as you can see it from the interstate. However, there is a lot of construction in the surrounding area. This causes some confusion as your GPS might not be correct until all of the construction is completed.

When we arrived in the area our GPS was thrown off because the main road to the resort is still under construction. As a result we needed to go around the development and pick up the road up on the other side of the resort. This is currently the only way to enter the resort until the road is completed.

There is also another resort close by and many people confuse the two locations. The location is great for travelers and people passing through. But until the construction in the area is completed this is something people will have to deal with.
